Should I tile the wall in front of my kitchen sink?

I am currently in the middle of a remodel of my house and I am about to work on the kitchen. I have no window over my kitchen sink so I'm deciding whether or not to put tile over my sink. If i put tile then should it go all the way up to there the cabinets go? (my cabinets do not touch the ceiling) I think it would look like too much tiling if it goes up to the cabinets. Any good ideas for tiling?

I could also not put tiling and just paint the wall. We're thinking about a red color for the kitchen walls. The space above the sink is about 3 1/2' x 3 1/2'. There is also no cabinet over the sink, but there are cabinets to the left and right of the sink. We're going to hang some pots and pans there.

Go with a tile for a couple of reasons. One is that you can splash a little water on it and it wont hurt a thing. Two is that you can make this a focal point and do something fancy or a simple design.. Three is that pots and pans if you hang them on the wall they will damage and or leave grey marks on painted walls. A simple mural can be tiled around to make it a focal point and something to look at when your at the sink..
If you are hanging them on the wall and tiling it. Map out the stud locations before tiling, taking the guess work outta that..
