My wall mirror is loose..and i dont have a clue how to fix it..?
k, i'm a 15 1/2 yr old female.. and i'm deciding to fix my mirror since nobody else will. its a full length mirror with 2 screws (top and bottom) the bottom one is screwed into the wall but i think the top hole has gotten bigger.. so the top isnt screwed in anymore.. its just kinda in there (i have duck tape trying to hold it there but its still not really on the wall)...
so how do i fix it...
do i have to putty the whole, wait till it dries, and screw it back in?
or should i just put a longer screw in..?
any suggestions are welcome.. and a step by step how-to would be amazing (dont dumb it down too much--cause i know a little--but i still need help)
PLEASE!! thank you..
by whole i meant hole
lana s- great explantion..i'll use it if i ever need it.. but its not a door. its on a wall.. it those damn cottage cheese walls if that makes a difference..
Get yourself a "molly screw". They are the colored plastic things that you will put in the hole to plug it up.
I'm sure your parents have a few around--ask them for a "molly screw". Make sure that the screw fits in it.
Tap it into the hole on your wall. You will use a hammer to do this.
Put the screw in the "molly screw" and voila !!! Just like new !!

Preparations: Small or lightweight mirrors are relatively very simple to hang. But if you are working with a larger mirror, take extra care to prevent damage to the mirror and to anyone handling it. Get some help should always be your first step; Work with a friend or buddy. So ascertain that you have someone available to assist you in your project.
What to Buy: There are a coulpe of important items to keep near you while you install. First, a good-quality D-Ring picture hanger. Make sure you get a good quality product, one that will not bend easily. Second, is the hanging wire; make sure that you specifically purchase mirror wire, not the picture wire, as the wire tends to be more durable compared to the picture wire. Finally, get some molly-bolts or hollow wall anchors. They are available in a wide range of sizes. Ask for some assistance when buying these products, as you will have to know what size you require and apply these tools according to the weight and size of your mirror.
Basic Steps in Hanging Large Wall Mirrors: Place the D-ring at the back of the mirror frame far to one side and mark the holes with a pencil, then drill pilot holes where you made pencil marks. Secure the ring with screws. Repeat this step for the second D-ring, placing it parallel to the first D-ring on the other side. Now you need to string the mirror wire through each D-ring and secure it. The final step is to have somebody assist you in positioning your wall mirror.
Tips: This is not as easy of a joba as it may appera. Find just the right spot by having your work buddy hold the mirror against the wall and then step back to see if you like the placement. If you like it, make a mark on the wall at the top of the frame. Use a level to ensure the mirror is flawlessly straight before marking the wall. Make sure the mirror is positioned perfectly by using a laser leve. This will make sure it is where you want it in respect to distance between other walls. Always remember to make safety your first priority with any home remodel project.
