Mother in law bought decoration for my daughters room, but we changed the theme-I know I told her.?
She must have forgotten. It was some decals for the wall. I don't want to use them. They will clash with the rest. They were a birthday gift. What do I do? I can't return them as I don't have the recept. She did this once before when my daughter was born and I was decorating her nursery, so I am hesitant to mention it to her.
Is she going to be hurt if she comes over and they are not up? Maybe just tell her that your daughter decided on a different theme (if that is true) and that you appreciate the gesture, but you really want your daughter to be able to use what she got her, so is there any way they can at least be exchanged? I know it sometimes may not make you feel better, but be glad your mother in law is in your child's life and that she wants to buy her things. Is there any way you can hang the decals in a less visible spot or in a play room, bathroom, on the back side of your daughter's bedroom or closet door, in the back yard or even on the ceiling? You can always tell your mom they are on the back side of your daughter's door so she can look at them from her bed when sheis in her room and think of grandma. Or you could just hang them for a short time, then take them down. The worst thing that can happen is that her room doesn't perfectly match for a little while. In the big scheme of things, pretty minor. This is probably not worth hurt feelings over - unless there is a history of her disregarding what you say - that is a totally different issue.
