What is the new fascination I am seeing from mature women with Minnie and Mickey Mouse?

I have been seeing these a lot lately with women from 20 to 40 or so. Some hide behind them as avatars and some are using them as screen names. Just an awful lot in the last month or so as I blog and read blogs.
